SHARE RETAIL `POWER CENTER’ HAS GROUNDBREAKING

Ground has been broken for Gateway Crossing, one of northern Utah's first "power centers."

The center, located on 21 acres off Interstate 15 at 500 South and 500 West in West Bountiful, will house more than 320,000 square feet of retail space, including department stores, restaurants, a six-plex theater and a ShopKo store.Gateway Crossing is a joint venture of Price Development Co. of Salt Lake City and Steven E. Smoot and W. Scott Kjar of Bountiful. It is scheduled to open in August 1991.

A power center is an open retail complex featuring two or three major anchor stores and numerous promotional tenants that sell hard and soft goods. Power centers range in size from 225,000 to 400,000 square feet.
