After rains cancelled play following the quarterfinals Sunday afternoon, Salt Lake's Sultans were declared winners of the Class A Pioneer Days Tournament.

The Sultans (4-0) were the only unbeaten team in the men's fastpitch softball event at the Cottonwood Complex. The key win for the Sultans was an 8-7 decision over the Outlaws (Grand Junction, Colo.) in round-robin play Sunday morning. In the quarterfinals, the Sultans defeated Griffin's of Ogden 8-4.The Sultans' Rob Van Dyke was named the tournament MVP and teammates Todd Wortman and Jeff Wortman joined him on the all-tourney team. The Outlaws' Mike Deisher was named the top pitcher and Miller Chevrolet's Darrell Pruitt was the leading hitter.

The Pioneer Days Tournament for major teams will be held Friday through Sunday.
