A rollover near Lagoon Saturday afternoon triggered a second accident and sent a total of five people to area hospitals. One of the injured remains in serious condition.

The first accident occurred at about 12:45 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-15 at Glover Lane, south of Lagoon, when a vehicle driven by an American Fork woman rolled over. The woman, whose name was not released, was flown to the University of Utah Medical Center where she was in serious but stable condition. All southbound lanes of the freeway were closed so the helicopter could land. Nancy Dixon, a paramedic with the South Davis sheriff's department, said people began getting impatient so they turned their cars around and began driving south in the northbound emergency lanes. As one car drove south just underneath the U.S. 89 overpass, a northbound car pulled out and the two hit head on.

The three occupants of the first car were taken to Humana Hospital Davis North where they were treated and released. They are reportedly from the Orem area. The out-of-state driver of the second vehicle was taken to Lakeview Hospital and was also treated for minor injuries and released.

"It was just people being impatient and stupid," Dixon said.
