A South Jordan man has been accused by the state of doing construction work without a license, a petition says.
State licensing authorities are seeking a minimum $1,000 fine and a restraining order against Frank E. Reedy III preventing him from doing unauthorized contracting work.According to the petition filed with the state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing, Reedy advertises in the phone book as a cement and roofing contractor but is not licensed with the state to do that type of work.
In describing a roofing job involving Reedy, the petition said he agreed to do work for a homeowner in Bountiful and accepted a $1,600 down payment. The home was sold, however, and the former owner canceled Reedy's services. According to the contract, Reedy could keep 5 percent of the down payment, but he refused to return the balance of the down payment when the homeowner requested it, the petition said.
Reedy is awaiting trial in 3rd District Court on charges of communications fraud and contracting without a license.
