Pate's 238-yard 2-iron shot ran into the cup for a double eagle-2 on the 535-yard eighth hole, and Jim Gallagher matched his marvel on the 492-yard, par-5 17th hole with a 5-iron that traveled 209 yards into the cup.A double eagle, a score of two on a par-5 hole, is the most unusual scoring feat in golf. Records indicate that there have never been two double eagles scored in the same tournament, let along in the same round.
