An Alpine School District committee is working to develop plans for the future.

But just how it intends to do that is a little unclear. Instead of developing specific proposals, the Project 2000 committee brainstorms. It is developing vision statements and outlining various roadblocks preventing the realization of those visions. It eventually hopes to make concrete suggestions of specific changes needed in schools. The committee, which has been running since early this year, presented an interim report to the school board at its Tuesday meeting.

"At present, the committee is not ready to produce a document or a list of goals or even statements of belief. It may never do that. The committee views its purpose in terms of thinking about the right questions and positioning itself to aide in the change process as answers unfold to the questions asked," the report said.
