A Salt Lake man was shot in the face with a 20-gauge shotgun Sunday during an altercation with another man at an apartment complex.
Salt Lake Police Lt. Steve Diamond said the victim, Margarito Tapia, 30, 429 N. Pamela Way, was wounded at 5:30 p.m. by an assailant who fled on foot. Tapia was listed in serious condition Monday at LDS Hospital."We don't know why it happened," Diamond said, adding that police were unable to elicit much information from witnesses or the victim himself.
The shotgun was recovered at the scene. Police have identified a possible suspect and are searching for him. The incident is under investigation but is not believed to be gang-related, police said.
