The start of the Utah State Fair opens the doors to ribbon collectors of all kinds.
Utah cooks are invited to participate in three separate corporate sponsored cooking competitions.- Saco `Bake Your Best' encourages entries in main course, baked goods, dessert or candy categories. Entrants must use Saco chocolate chunks, baking cocoa or cultured buttermilk blend. Entry, recipe and official entry form must be delivered to the Home Arts Building, Saturday, September 8, between 10 and 11 a.m. Judging will be at noon. First place is $100; second, $50; third and honorable mention, $25.
- Nestle `Choco Bake Challenge' entrants enter desserts, cakes, cookies, brownies or frosting using at lest 3 packets of Choco Bake unsweetened baking chocolate in the recipe. Finished product, recipe and entry form must arrive at the Home Arts Building on Saturday, September 15, between 10 and 11 a.m. Judging will be at noon. Three prizes will be awarded in the amount of $100, $50 and $25.
- Crisco's American Pie Celebration sponsors a cherry pie baking contest on Saturday, September 15. Pies should be delivered to the Home Arts Building between 2 and 4 p.m.; judging will be at 5 p.m. Prizes include an expense-paid trip to the national contest in New Orleans, $100 as second place and $50 as third place.
