Car travel with children doesn't have to be a nightmare.

Here are some hints from Family Circle magazine for a great vacation on the road.-Involve the children in planning the trip. Let them help you send away for information from tourist offices.

-Keep necessary items such as diapers, premoistened towelettes, bottles, pacifiers, blankets and pillows close at hand.

-Make a "fun bag" for each child with games, books and a few surprise items in them.

-Pack plenty of snacks. Make an adventure out of mealtime by having a picnic.

-Schedule long-distance driving during the kid's naptime.

-Look for playgrounds and make stops there about every two hours. Know ahead of time where you will be staying and opt for a place with a pool.
