An earthquake Tuesday jolted the city of Rudbar in northern Iran, where a devastating quake killed 40,000 people in June, Iran's official Islamic Republic News Agency reported.
Tuesday's temblor measured 5 on the Richter scale and had an epicenter 120 miles northwest of Tehran in the province of Gilan, Tehran University's Geophysics Center told the news agency.The agency, monitored in Cyprus, said there was no report of damage or casualties.
Since the June 21 quake, which measured more than 7.3 on the Richter scale, the region has been rocked frequently by minor and severe tremors and aftershocks.
