Two of three members of a committee charged with examining the paramedic and emergency medical services in Davis County were named Monday by the county commission.

Lee S. Steorts, Bountiful, and Randy J. Harris, Layton, were nominated to the committee by commissioners Robert Rose and Gayle Stevenson. Commissioner Dub Lawrence said he has two people he's asked about the assignment but both requested more time to consider it.His appointment will be made Wednesday, Lawrence said. The commissioners also set a deadline of Oct. 17 for the committee's report and pledged that county resources, including secretarial and other help, will be made available.

The committee is being named at the request of the Davis Council of Governments, which is made up of mayors, school district and other government officials in the county.

Paramedic services are currently offered through the county sheriff's department and supported by a voter-approved property tax levy.
