The Salt Lake Trappers increased their slim Pioneer League Southern Division lead to a game with a 7-3 victory Wednesday night over Gate City.
Idaho Falls, which defeated Butte, 8-7, moved past Butte into second place with the Copper Kings falling 1 1/2 games behind the Trappers.Tom Duffin and John Ucioli each drove in two runs to pace the Trapers.
The Trappers have eight games remaining and six are against Idaho Falls and Butte. Salt Lake plays Butte tonight and tomorrow night on the road then has a two game home series and two game road series with Idaho Falls. Salt Lake closes the season at home with a two-game series against Pocatello.
