Firefighters called to a burning house Friday found five people shot dead inside, including two girls ages 4 and 8.
Firefighters found the five bodies inside the home in the Queens borough, all dead of gunshot wounds, said Joe McGee, a spokesman for the Fire Department. They also found an empty gasoline can.The fire was extinguished quickly.
Besides the two girls, the other victims were a teenage girl, a woman and a man, McGee said. He initially called it an apparent murder-suicide but later said that was not the case.
The man was unrelated to the woman and girls, McGee said, but he had no details.
A neighbor, Elise Harrison, said she understood that a couple and their two daughters lived in the house. Harrison said she knew of no previous trouble at the house.
