A Weber County-sponsored flier sent out as a newspaper insert asking people to tip cops to drug dealers has generated a flood of calls to authorities.
The Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force, which normally receives five to 10 calls a day, has been getting more than 100 calls per day since the flier went out Monday, said Lt. Steve Turner.A phone number for drug abusers to get help through the Weber County Drug and Alcohol program, also on the flier, did not generate the same response.
Kevin Koopmans, administrator of the drug and alcohol program, said he is still receiving the normal 10-to-12 intakes per day through the program. There are 600-650 patients in the program at any given time, he said.
