Dr. James M. Ferguson , president of Salt Lake-based Pharmacology Research Corp., will represent the United States in Kyoto, Japan Sept. 10-14 for the 17th Congress of Collegium Internationale Neuro-Psychopharmacologicum.

Ferguson, a psychiatrist and expert on new medication development for psychiatric disorders, will be among representatives of 45 countries who will contribute scientific findings on subjects ranging from new treatments for depression and Alzheimer's disease to research in anxiety disorder and panic disorder.Ferguson is the author of numerous books and publications on psychopharmacology, eating disorders and psychiatry. The company he head conducts pre- and post-marketing clinical trials of new medications for domestic and foreign pharmaceutical companies.

He has conducted 35 such clinical trials at his research center over the past four years in which some 1,500 Utahns have participated.

Also attending the international conference will be Daniel B. Vine, a research neurologist, and Samuel Ball, a research coordinator. Both are associated with the clinic.
