Artist Bev Doolittle's newest painting isn't one painting but 24! Each of the 24 images in "Hide and Seek" is a stand-alone portrait of a pinto pony camouflaged against a background of snow and rocks. When the 24 are placed together in the correct order, a larger message emerges - the words "hide and seek." This is the artist's playful way of describing camouflage art. The painting is being released as a signed-and-numbered limited edition print by Doolittle's publisher, The Greenwich Workshop. For information about the poster, call 800/243-4246.

- The NEH Museum of Art at Utah State University is closed. But when it reopens Tuesday, Sept. 25, it will be sporting a new look.Museum director Steven Rosen said that the redesign process began several months ago when members of professor Tom Peterson's interior design class toured the facility. Although they were impressed with the exhibits, their responses to the physical space were not as favorable.

Rosen added that staff members and workers are revamping the physical space in the facility to create more room for exhibitions.

When the museum reopens, it will spotlight works by contemporary Utah furniture-makers as well as ceramics by USU faculty member John Neely.

- Want to learn more about art and help others to do the same? Then become a docent at the Salt Lake Art Center.

But what is a docent? Well, it's a volunteer who helps interpret and explain exhibitions to the visitors. Training lasts 13 weeks, during which time you learn about art history as well as specific skills in lecture presentation and communication.

Trainees should be willing to commit a minimum of two years to this program. For more information, contact David Pursley at 328-4201.

- Springville Museum of Art recently received a grant of $3,000 from the Marriner S. Eccles Foundation. This grant has been earmarked for educational programs at the museum.

Lila D. Larsen, assistant director of the museum, said, "These funds will enable the museum to provide printed materials, gallery talks and other educational programs for patrons and school groups."

In addition, an anonymous donor has given $2,500 to fund the All-State High School Art Show held annually at the museum.

Larsen said that this marks the fourth year these donors have supported the exhibit. "$1,000 of these funds are given to students as cash awards, and the remainder helps pay for other costs of the exhibit."
