Brigham Young University has named Erlend D. "Pete" Peterson of Orem dean of admissions and records, according to President Rex E. Lee.

He also announced the appointment of Jeffery M. Tanner and Ford L. Stevenson, both of Orem, as associate deans.The appointments are effective immediately, Lee said. Peterson replaces Robert W. Spencer, who has returned to full-time teaching and research in the College of Education.

Peterson has worked in the Admissions and Records Office since 1966, becoming an assistant dean in 1973 and an associate dean in 1985.

The Provo native earned bachelor's, master's and Ed.D. degrees from BYU and has served as an associate in the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies and as an assistant professor of educational leadership.

Tanner has been in the Admissions and Records Office since 1973 and has served as an assistant and associate dean.

He holds bachelor's, MPA and Ed.D. degrees from BYU and is chairman of the BYU Commencement Committee.

Stevenson has been in BYU's Admissions and Records Office since 1973, serving since 1977 as director of student financial aid. He is former president of the Utah Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators.
