A human rights agreement recently signed by El Salvador's conservative government and leftist rebels could lead to an increase in anonymous death squad killing, a leading churchman said Sunday.

"We are worried that the inability to act openly will make them fall back on that type of dirty war so well-known in other times," Auxiliary Bishop Gregorio Rosa Chavez told reporters after leading Catholic mass during El Salvador's patron saint holidays.
