Alan Rothenberg, president of the California Bar Association, won the position of president of the U.S. Soccer Federation on Sunday, defeating incumbent Werner Fricker by a wide margin.

The United States will host the 1994 World Cup and the president of the USSF will be a key figure in organizing the tournament. Rothenberg was elected to a four-year term that ends a month after the cup.
