West German President Richard von Weizsaecker thumbs through the unification treaty between East and West Germany after he signed the contract in Bonn. In addition, East German Defense and Disarmament Minister Rainer Eppelmann and the Commander in Chief of the Warsaw Pact troops, Gen. Pyotr Luzhev, signed a document in East Berlin ending the participation of East German troops in the military alliance. The unification date for the two nations is set for Oct. 3.
