SHARE SUU PLANS FUND-RAISING PERFORMANCE OF `THE ELEPHANT MAN’ MONDAY NIGHT

A fund-raising performance of Southern Utah University's production of "The Elephant Man" will be presented Monday, Jan. 14, at 8 p.m. in the Randall L. Jones Theatre, with proceeds earmarked for taking the play to the 1991 Festivention gathering at Carrol College in Helena, Mont., beginning Jan. 17.

First performed by SUU's theater department in November, the production has been selected to compete with other Rocky Mountain Theatre Association shows at the annual festival/convention. Performers Brian Vaughn, Russ Benton and Holly Bradford have also been nominated for RMTA acting awards.Tickets for the fund-raising performance are $7 and can be purchased in advance by calling 586-7878. Following the performance there will be a reception and refreshments in the lobby.

The SUU production has also been selected as a finalist for the American College Theatre Festival being held in February in Los Angeles, where both Vaughn and Benton have been nominated for Irene Ryan Acting Awards.
