A woman and three children were critically injured Thursday morning in Kearns when a car went out of control and struck a utility pole.

Details of the 9:05 a.m. incident were sketchy, but it appeared the woman was driving along 5400 South when she struck the pole near 3750 West, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Larry Sisneros. The victims were taken to Pioneer Valley Hospital, where the woman was in serious condition. The children were later transported in critical condition to Primary Children's Medical Center. Two of the children, ages 2 and 5, belonged to the woman, who was baby-sitting the third child, an 18-month-old who apparently suffered a broken neck.
