Lt. Col. Douglas Saville Young USAF Ret., age 75, passed away January 23, 1991, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born November 30, 1915, Salt Lake City, to James Tyler and Ethel Dean Saville Young. Married Joan Barbara Durham, November, 1944, in Calcutta, India. He served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II and participated in the India Burma combat actions. His varied military career included foreign duty in Asiatic-Pacific Area, Korea, and Puerto Rico. Following his retirement from the United States Air Force he joined the civil service at Hill AFB and retired in 1980. He graduated from the University of Utah, with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and also was a member of the varsity tennis team. He was an avid fly fisherman and loved spending summers with his family and dog, Buffy, at their cabin in Island Park, Idaho. Survived by wife, Salt Lake City; daughter and sons: Mrs. Robert T. (Sandra) Montano, West Valley City; Robert J. Young and wife Robin, Sandy, Utah; Lawrence D. Young, Salt Lake City; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a brother, Alan S. Young, Salt Lake City. Military graveside services will be held Monday, January 28th, 12 Noon, in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue and N Street. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
