The Community Economic Development Agency in Juab County has had a successful year.

Glenn Greenhalgh, director, said the agency has seen many different types of activity take place in the past few months."Economic development is a process that requires support and help from the county's citizens and governmental entities," said Greenhalgh.

Greenhalgh said Mid-State Consultants dedicated their new building in the industrial park in September.

"This company will be a welcome addition to Juab County," Greenhalgh said. Mid-State Consultants does engineering for the telecommunications industry. The 12,000-square-foot building cost $442,000.

Bronzestone, a company that builds small bronze-type statues out of stone material, moved to Nephi and began production in early October.

Nephi Farm Supply, an Intermountain Farmers Association-affiliated store, had its grand opening in Nephi Dec. 8.

Both Brownstone and Nephi Farm Supply are located in what were once vacant grocery stores in downtown Nephi.

"We have provided information to several companies and have hosted three companies' on-site visits to our county," said Greenhalgh. "We have worked with four or five businesses who want to use the county's revolving loan fund."

Two loans have been closed and the agency is continuing to work with other companies on their loan applications, Greenhalgh said.

The agency has provided information to furniture manufacturers, display builders, an aerospace company, a warehouse company and a casting firm, among others.

In addition, during the past several months, Greenhalgh said, the agency has worked on several tourism projects, including reprinting of the Nebo Loop brochure and updated information for tour operators.

Members of the agency board are Golden Mangelson, Jim Garrett, Vard White, Von Rosquist, Kevin Young, Don Treloar, Craig Sperry and Milt Harmon.
