SCHOLAR FINDS MISSING PAGES FROM MOZART WORK

SHARE SCHOLAR FINDS MISSING PAGES FROM MOZART WORK

Ever since Mozart's death in 1791, musicians have scrutinized every note he wrote.

But 200 years after his death, a musical scholar from the University of Rochester's Eastman School of Music unearthed some manuscript pages missing all these years from the well known Rondo for Horn, K. 371.The newly discovered pages made up about one quarter of the entire piece.

Why had no one suspected before that the existing manuscript wasn't complete?

Eastman's Marie Rolf explains that "the last bar of the previous page hooks up to the first bar five pages later tolerably well, without a marked disruption to the harmony or melody."
