Iraq, unable to export oil for 14 months because of a U.N. trade embargo, said Saturday it had completed 40 percent of necessary repairs to its southern Rumeila oil field, which was badly damaged in the gulf war.
The Iraqi News Agency quoted oil sources as saying the first phase of the program to rebuild the oil field included repairing four water injection stations, four degassing stations and four gas compaction stations.The oil field was expected to be completely repaired by next July.
