Local chapters of the Red Cross have been notified that they will have money available to help Desert Storm participants pay for family counseling, crisis intervention, respite child care and budget counseling. Nationwide, the Red Cross was granted $13.5 million by Congress to help Desert Storm veterans and their families pay for special counseling needs, said Chloe Langston, director of military social services. A Red Cross worker in Salt Lake City said that calls are already coming in from people who have heard the funds would be available soon. Applications for the funds are being accepted at local Red Cross chapter offices.
