A Salt Lake dentist plans to contest charges brought by licensing regulators that he sexually abused a child patient, his attorney said.
"We are filing an absolute denial and will contest" the action taken by the state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing, said Brad Rich, attorney for Dr. Walter Alma Romney.According to a petition issued by the division, Romney touched the breasts and buttocks of an 8-year-old girl during dental treatment last August.
In September, Romney was charged in 3rd Circuit Court with sexual abuse of a child, the petition said.

Romney is charged with two counts of unprofessional conduct by the division, which is seeking disciplinary action against his license to practice dentistry.
