Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart, his worldwide ministry rocked by his involvement with a prostitute for the second time in three years, has taken a temporary leave of absence to seek professional counseling and medical care.

Donnie Swaggart met late Tuesday with employees and officials of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries to announce he would temporarily assume his father's office as chairman of the ministries."In God's perfect timing, Dad will once again assume the pulpit at the Family Worship Center," Donnie Swaggart said.

Students of the Bible College as well as employees of the ministries' suburban Baton Rouge campus appeared to be solidly in support of Swaggart.

One said, "We're not going to stop going to the church or nothing, and we're not going to stop supporting." Another said, "I love him."
