The head of Utah State University's Ecology Center has been elected as an officer in a national organization representing biological scientists.

Frederic H. Wagner, director of the USU Ecology Center and associate dean of the College of Natural Resources, has been elected secretary-treasurer of the American Institute of Biological Sciences, according to the institute's president, Paul G. Risser.Wagner served as an institute council member from 1986 to 1989 and has been a reviewer for the institute's journal. The institute is devoted to strengthening public policy consideration for such issues as biological diversity, global warming and deforestation, Risser said.
