Salt Lake County sheriff's detectives Tuesday identified the body of a man killed in Butterfield Canyon as George Ira Spor, 37, of 7153 S. 1155 West, West Jordan.

Hunters located his body about 200 yards off the main road, about six miles up the canyon. He had been shot twice, in the upper right back and on the left side. Investigators believe the body had been there for about two days before it was found.Spor was identified through a computer fingerprint matchup system, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. David Bishop. Detectives do not believe he is the victim of a hunting accident and are investigating the shooting as a homicide.

"Now they (detectives) can start to try and find out what happened," Bishop said. Spor had not been reported missing.
