A high school principal said he would no longer allow students to hone their marksmanship skills on live pigeons after an animal rights group threatened to sue.

"It was a voluntary thing," said Alan Dennis, principal of Riverside High School. "Nobody had to shoot a bird if they didn't want to. They just cleaned up some pigeons around the barn yard."The Fund for Animals, which previously stopped a grizzly bear hunt in Montana, threatened a lawsuit.
