SHARE GUARD UNIT WINS NATIONAL AWARD FOR ITS READINESS

The Utah Army National Guard 222nd Field Artillery's 2nd Battalion has been named the "most outstanding National Guard unit in the nation" for readiness.

The Walter T. Kerwin Jr. Readiness Award is the highest honor given to recognize a Guard battalion's overall performance. It was presented in Washington, D.C., to battalion commander Lt. Col. Mark G. Fuellenbach. The award is given annually by the Association of the United States Army, the National Guard Association of the United States and the Reserve Officers Association.Training, personnel strength, the demonstration of military skills and percentage of attendance at drills and annual training are all factors in receiving the award.
