Fulton Allem shot a 6-under-par for a one-stroke victory over Billy Ray Brown, Tom Kite and Mike Hulbert in the Independent Insurance Agents Open on Sunday.
Allem, who earned $144,000, finished with a 15-under 273 total on the 7,042-yard Tournament Players course. Kite closed with a 68 and Brown and Hulbert shot 71s.Mike Springer and Duffy tied for fifth at 13-under 275.
Jeff Maggert, who led after each of the first three rounds and had a three-shot advantage going into the final round, closed with an 8-over 80 to finish seven back at 280.
LOS ANGELES - Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback John Brodie tapped in a 4-inch birdie putt Sunday to defeat Chi Chi Rodriguez and George Archer on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff in the Security Pacific Senior Classic.
The 56-year-old Brodie earned $75,000 and ended a 7-year, 157-tournament victory drought on the Senior PGA Tour. He closed with a 4-under-par 68 for a 13-under 200 total on the 6,307-yard Rancho Park course. Rodriguez and Archer shot 66s.
