The Provo City Library will celebrate Halloween with free face painting for children 12 and under Thursday, Oct. 31, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Librarians Shauna Weight, Cheryl Day and Cindy Hansen will transform children into ghouls, goblins, vampires and clowns.At the same time, the second annual Pumpkin Carving Competition will take place on the front steps of the library (weather permitting). Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: funniest, scariest and the jack-o'-lantern that looks most like Lavell Edwards. Pumpkins should be brought - already carved - to the front steps of the library at 3 p.m.
