Third baseman Terry Pendleton of the NL champion Atlanta Braves will undergo surgery Wednesday to remove bone chips from his left knee.

Pendleton, who led the NL in hitting with a .319 average, had been bothered by the knee late in the season, and hit only .167 in the playoffs against the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, he hit .367 in the World Series.
