Sinead O'Connor says she and her siblings were victims of daily beatings while growing up.

"I was beaten up every day . . . very, very badly. I lived my life in a state of terror," the Irish-born singer said in the November issue of Spin magazine."Merely the sound of my mother's feet on the hearth ceiling were enough to send us into spasms of complete terror."

O'Connor's hits have included the album "Nothing Compares 2 U."
