Two incumbent councilmen were re-elected and one was defeated in a campaign that centered around economic development issues.

Beverly Hansen, a business owner and operator who has been active in several PTA organizations, won a seat on the council with 428 votes, leading the candidates. Incumbents Dean L. Brough and Dennis A. Jenkins also made successful re-election bids, with 373 and 281 votes, respectively.Incumbent Bill E. Hall, who served a partial term on the council before being elected twice, was defeated Tuesday, along with Alfred G. Stringham and David R. Sather.
