The lone incumbent seeking re-election in Brigham City barely made it back to the City Council for a second four-year term.

Daniel S. Nelsen said he expected a close election and is just happy he will be around to continue work on projects begun during his first council term."I think keeping the cost of services down while keeping the services our citizens have come to expect will be the biggest challenge," Nelsen said. "I think we (the council) have some good things going and I look forward to continuing with those projects."

Bill McGaha, who ran second in the contest to elect three council members, said he thinks there is a need to address morale problems among city employees while doing a better job of keeping city spending in line with city revenues. David T. Kano led the balloting with 1,871 votes.

"I don't think things are out of control but I think we can make improvements on how we spend tax dollars," McGaha said.
