A look at the write-in votes in the Orem election conjures up visions of confused voters scratching their heads in bewilderment while trying to remember the name of write-in candidate George Bailey.

Try as they might, some voters were stumped. They tried: Bill Bailey, David Bailey, Chris Bailey, Paul Bailey, Charles Bailey, Blaine Bailey and in one real stretch, George Welsh.A surprising number of voters managed to come up with Bailey's correct name and fill it in on the right line: 2,972.

Of course, some voters just had fun once ensconced in the semiprivacy of the voting booth. Why not? It's a free country.
