The Millard County Commission has proposed increasing the county budget by 42.79 percent and property tax revenue by 28.36 percent. But that doesn't mean taxes are going up by that amount.

Commissioners explained that much of the increase in property tax revenue is a result of the East and West Millard recreation districts being absorbed in the county's general fund. Also, the corresponding tax rate is being incor-porated with that already existing for the county.Expenses of the recreation districts have been budgeted separately from the general fund during previous years.

A public hearing to consider the budget will be held Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. in the courthouse, 60 S. Main, Fillmore. The commission will reach a final decision on the proposed tax increase at that meeting.
