If visits to Zion National Park continue at the current rate through December, a record 2.5 million visitors will see the park in 1991.

Through October, 2,453,570 visitors had come to the park in southwestern Utah, a 7 percent increase over the same period a year ago and more than in all of 1990.The 1991 rate is roughly comparable to the 10-year trend of 8.2 percent average yearly growth in the number of visits, said park superintendent Donald A. Falvey.

August was the first month in which the number of visitors exceeded 400,000.
