A Kearns woman has pleaded not guilty to a charge of vehicle homicide in the death of another woman who was killed in January.

Lisa Petrey, 21, entered her plea last week in 3rd District Court. She is charged with one count of vehicle homicide, a third-degree felony. A jury trial has been scheduled for Feb 19 at 10 a.m. before Judge Timothy Hanson.Petrey is accused of driving with a blood-alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit when she hit 58-year-old Betty Legg, 5537 Bailiff Drive, Kearns, court documents state. Legg was crossing the street at 5350 S. 5600 West on Jan. 14.

West Valley police say Petrey struck Legg, stopped and then drove forward over her again when a car behind her honked. The victim suffered broken ribs in the accident and died from suffocation caused when her lungs were punctured, according to court documents.
