The New York Islanders finally appear ready to change hands. Owner John Pickett announced he had executed a letter of intent to sell up to 50 percent of the team to two Long Island investment firms.

The transaction is expected to be completed within the next 60 days, pending approval by the NHL. Pickett is relinquishing control of the team to Walsh, Greenwood & Co. and First Long Island Investors, Inc.
