Dade County, Fla., officials recently discovered that someone had been stealing records from Jim Morrison's court cases. They were tipped off in June when a bail-bond sheet from Morrison's 1969 onstage obscenity arrest was sold at an auction in New York for $15,950. Last month Dade County official Marshall Ader began searching for files on the late lead singer of The Doors and discovered a total of 43 Morrison-related documents and photographs are missing. Ader says he's convinced the material was stolen.
