- THE LEAGUE OF UTAH WRITERS' Salt Lake Chapter has slated its monthly meeting for Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 6:45 p.m. in the Salt Lake Public Library.

Rebecca Burton will speak about writing romance novels and offer exercises and drills for those in attendance.

- SCOTT PRESTON, an Idaho poet, will read from his works at the next City Art poetry reading at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 240 S. Main. Preston is editor of the White Clouds Revue. His recent book of poetry is "In Town/Out There," and his poetry has been published in the California State Poetry Quarterly and the Writer's Chapbook, among others.

A tribute to songs and music of Sun Ra will be also provided by Curt Setzer, Sherm Clough, Lise Sorensen, Richard Jonas and Jim Sorrells.
