With the Region 6 prep basketball race having been so tight during the closing weeks of the regular season, who would have thought that it would have finished up with Thursday's finales this neat and tidy?

Woods Cross and Jordan both triumphed Thursday, tying for the league title and claiming the first two of the region's four berths to next week's 3A state tournament. Despite a loss, Bountiful backed its way into playoff position, while Murray won and was awarded a fourth spot.Just two weeks ago, a mere two-game margin was all that separated seven of the eight Region 8 teams.

In the four following game summaries, league and overall records are included for each team.

Woods Cross 59, Bountiful 55: The Wildcats scored 20 points in both the opening and closing periods in claiming their fifth straight win, dropping the Braves to their third straight defeat. Of course, the 'Cats took advantage of more than double the trips to the FT line, taking 29 attempts to the Braves' 12.

Kevin Carlston's game-high 25 points included a pair of treys and 13-of-14 shooting from the line for Murray (8-6, 10-11), which won three of its last four games. Pat McGrath finished with 15 to pace Granite (6-8, 10-10).

West 71, Judge 64: Down 33-29 at halftime, the Panthers outscored the Bulldogs 42-31 in the second half. Chris Stepan led all scores with 26 points for West (7-7, 8-12). John Yerkovich canned four 3-pointers and a team-high 16 points for Judge (1-13, 3-17).

State-tournament seedings: While Jordan and Woods Cross tied for the league title, Jordan takes the region's No. 1 seed to the tournament thanks to its two-game sweep of WX during the regular season. Bountiful and Murray tied for third and split their two-game series, so either a coin flip or another tiebreaker will be needed to determine the Nos. 3 and 4 seeding between the two teams.
