"Young She and Grandmother Tree," an original fairy-tale dance, will be presented by the Children's Dance Theatre March 1 at 7:30 p.m and March 2 at 2 p.m. in the Capitol Theater.
Young She has intriguing adventures in the enchanted forest, where she grows up learning to value her environment through the lessons that Grandmother Tree teaches her. Eventually the magical tree is cut down to meet man's needs, but through the efforts of the young girl, Grandmother Tree's seeds are saved and planted. This story deals with issues such as recycling and the importance of our environment. Julie Mark and Maggie Beers have composed an original score.Also on the program is "Peace" by Jacque Lynn Bell, divided into three sections: "A Prayer for Peace," "A Dream of Peace," and "A Shout for Peace." Tickets at $7-$10 adults, $6-$8 children, are available in advance at the CDT studio, 581-7374, or an hour before the concert at the theater.
