The city's liquor control ordinance will be amended to accommodate the request for a beer license by a new convenience store being constructed in Farmington, the City Council has agreed.

The city's current ordinance limits the number of Class A beer sales licenses to five. The license allows the sale of beer in containers for off-premises consumption.A new Maverik store being built on Shepard Lane just west of U.S. 89 has applied for a beer license, exceeding the ordinance-imposed limit of five licenses in the city.

Two grocery stores, two other convenience stores, and the Lagoon Campground store hold the five current licenses.
