About 250 people marched down Logan's Main Street and held a rally on the steps of the Cache County Courthouse in support of U.S. troops and to celebrate what they called the near-end of the Persian Gulf war.

Greg Forbush, one of the organizers, said the event Tuesday night also was to support the troops' families, whose lives have been disrupted by the war.Mayor Russ Fjeldsted told the crowd it was exciting to know, "While we are waving American flags, the people of Kuwait are waving flags in their capital city because the U.S. and its allies have liberated Kuwait."

He said patriotism has been strengthened in this country and other parts of the world.

Cache County Executive Seth Allen praised the troops for "getting this thing over with quickly."
